Introduction A persons’ personality refers to their way of thinking, behavior, and feelings. It is determined based on five basic pillars: agreeableness, extraversion, openness to new experiences, neuroticism, and conscientiousness. Through these pillars, it is possible to determine an individuals’ personality profile, which may be used to predict their behavior, relationships and other outcomes in life. The traits also determine someone’s personal profile, their work experiences, physical and mental health and other aspects of their life. For example, someone can be classified as being either an introvert or an extrovert based on their openness and social skills. Psychologists debate as to whether personality traits are inborn and†¦show more content†¦However, as they age and as they impacted by different life experiences, their personality traits undergo a transformation (Soto, 2016). People tend to become more reserved, resilient and conscientious wit h age. This may explain why someone may do something reckless when young, such as getting a misplaced tattoo but show signs of regret or remorse when older. It indicates that they have undergone a personality trait that has influenced their behavior and attitudes over time (Hudson Fraley, 2016). A good example of how age influences personality changes can be observed in married couples or life partners. At the beginning of their union, the couple may be compatible in many aspects, including personality. However, over the years, people may change their core traits and someone who was previously easy going and agreeable may become argumentative and moody. In such cases, the couple may part due to the personality changes that have occurred over time. Personality can also change depending on the social roles one takes on. For example, someone who becomes more invested in a job or business may become more conscientious, orderly and hard-working, as compared to when they were not as invested (Soto, 2016). Additionally, when someone attains a position of leadership, they may change their personality to be more outgoing and assertive where they were previously reserved and quiet.
